A REGENCY MAHOGANY SINGLE PAD TOP
BRACKET CLOCK. 1805
Miles. Ludgate Street. London.

The break arch mahogany case surmounted by a brass carrying handle on a pad top has silk backed fish scale side and front frets and stands on brass bracket feet.
The circular white dial is signed "Miles LUDGATE STREET London", and the matching hands are of blued steel.
The twin fusee movement has rectangular edge engraved plates and rack strikes on a bell. The backplate also has an engraved cartouche with clockmakers name and address, "Miles, Ludgate Street". The movement is also stamped on the frontplate " I. THWAITES " with a serial number 3633. (This dates the Thwaites movement to 1805). There is also a pull repeat facility, and hidden behind the front hinged door there is a strike/silent lever .

A LOUIS XVthSTYLE WAISTED BOULLE MANTEL CLOCK WITH MATCHING BRACKET.
CIRCA 1870.

The waisted case of red backed tortoiseshell inlaid with engraved brass and with ormolu mounts has a glazed aperture showing the female mask pendulum .A floral finial surmounts the clock. The clock stands on its matching bracket.
The white enamel dial has blue Roman hour numerals in blue .and black five minute markers. The pierced gilt hands are of Louis XVth design.
The eight day twin barrel movement countwheel strikes on a bell .

A GREEN NEUCHATEL STRIKING BRACKET CLOCK .
CIRCA 1785

The waisted case , decorated with pressed and cast gilt brass mounts , has a green ground with gilt stars and stands on its matching bracket.
The white enamel dial with Roman hour chapters and arabic five minute numerals has a pair of gilt filligree hands

The square plated movement (stamped FRF 353) strikes the number of the hour on the hour and half hour using a different bell in each case. Hence unlike normal French striking, one can determine which hour has passed at the half hour. There is an anchor escapement (19th C conversion) and a steel suspended pendulum with a massive lenticular bob.

A SUMISWALD QUARTER STRIKING
BRACKET CLOCK.
CIRCA 1820.


The waisted case of black ground with gilt floral and foliate gilt decoration, stands on its matching bracket.
The white enamel dial with Roman hour chapters has a fine pair of steel hands with applied gilt flowers.
The square plated movement is quarter striking on two gongs (petite sonnerie) and has an anchor escapement. The pendulum, visible through the glazed aperture below the dial ,has a large lenticular bob and a steel suspension.

AN EIGHTEENTH CENTURY NEUCHATEL BRACKET CLOCK.

Joh ULRICH HAAS in BIELL.
1769


The waisted case , decorated with painted floral decoration on a deep red ground and with water gilded edge mouldings, stands on its matching bracket.
The white enamel dial with Roman hour chapters and arabic five minute numerals has a pair of fretted steel hands.
The unusual rectangular plated movement with shaped shoulders, countwheel strikes the hour and half hour on a bell. (originally striking on two bells). It has its original verge escapement and a small lenticular bob pendulum. The inside of one plate is stamped with the year of manufacture, "1769". The backplate is engraved with the makrs name, "Joh Ulrich Haas in Biell". The striking and going trains are driven off one spring barrel with two great wheels.

CIRCA 1790.

The mahogany case with bell top and brass carrying handle has fretted wood sound frets to the top corners of break arch door.
The sides of the case have glazed apertures above which there are circular sound frets.
The silvered and engraved signed dial has a strike silent facility to the arch and a small date aperture.
The twin fusee movement five pillar movement with original verge escapement has a fine foliate engraved backplate and strikes the hour on a bell.
